My name is DeShawn M. Ewing. I have been a school Speech/Language Pathologist since 1989 and Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired since 1991. I graduated from Tennessee State University with a B.S. Degree in Speech Pathology & Audiology in 1989 and with a M.Ed. Degree in Speech/Language Pathology in 1996. I also graduated from Vanderbilt University with a M.Ed. Degree in Visual Impairments. I have been employed with the Marshall County School System since graduating from college and briefly worked for Tennessee Infant Parent Services as a Parent Advisor. I am a member of the American Speech & Hearing Association, Marshall County Education Association, the Tennessee Education Association ,the Marshall County Drug & Safety Task Force, and the Education Committee for Marshall County Three Star Task Force. To date, school speech/language pathologists are not subject to highly qualified status. However, I do hold a CCC—Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech & Hearing Association. This certificate enables me to practice my profession in a private, medical, or school setting. I also have a Tennessee Teacher’s License and Career Ladder 1 status. |
